As you can see, I have extensive experience in governance roles in various organizations. I understand how an organization with a budget in the tens of millions of dollars works, and what my role as a councillor/governor would be. As a councillor my role is to listen to the community, hear what is being said and using that awareness ask administration to do the work in and for the community. I will also need to listen to the wisdom of the Town of Banff staff, and do my best to align the desires of the community with the options suggested by administration, throwing in my own ideas when it makes sense to, but it’s not up to me as a councillor to force my ideas on anyone. My role will be to suggest options to help Council as a whole set a direction and ensure the town administration is doing the best job possible of trying to get us there.
